The Gila Challenge IIGila Challenge is a team and vehicle objective-based event.

Teams will compete in a variety of challenges in order to achieve objectives and earn points. The team with the highest point total at the end of the event is the winner. Rules for completing objectives and earning points will be revealed the morning of the Challenge. 

The safety of all team members, passengers, other competitors and other road users, must be a priority at all times.

Rules:
Some basic rules and information:

  1. A team will consists of 2 to 5 vehicles, to be determined prior to the event. A team’s number of vehicles will be determined by the number of vehicles that have registered before the registration deadline of April 7th, 2014.
  2. A competitor may not change their entered vehicle during the event, they must use the same vehicle for all stages of the event.
  3. There will be zero tolerance for alcohol consumption by competitors during competition portions of this event.
  4. There will be zero tolerance for speeding and/or other moving violations. Competitors are required to obey all posted road signs and known traffic laws.
  5. Teams will be assigned by the Challenge Marshals and announced the morning of the event.
  6. EACH TEAM MUST HAVE  A GPS-ENABLED CAMERA, SMARTPHONE OR OTHER DEVICE CAPABLE OF PROVIDING GPS DATA, PHOTOS, AND TIMESTAMPS. As smartphones are commonplace, this shouldn’t be much of an issue – if it is, Challenge Marshals will work to assign teams based on smartphone availability.
  7. The Gila Challenge is a dog-friendly event. Dogs must be on leash inside the campgrounds/event headquarters/park ferme, and any time they are outside of the owner’s vehicle.

All Paid Registrants, Participants, and Their Vehicles Must, Where Applicable:

  • Provide proof of valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance with current registration
  • Have equipment sufficient to see your team through all encountered obstacles, without assistance
  • Have equipment for team communication (HAM, FRS radio, CB, etc). Cell phones / smartphones are also acceptible, however some objectives will take competitors out of cell tower range – keep that in mind when planning what to bring.
  • Submit the signed Gila Challenge Waiver of Liability & Indemnity Agreement.
  • Competitors in Saturday’s challenge must have close-toed shoes. No flip-flops, sandals, or open-toed shoes will be allowed during the Challenge.
