Some of you may remember late last year that we discussed donating $500 from club funds generated from the rally to a charitable organization. After discussing this with Phoenix and Tucson members, the desire was to donate to an organization that supported keeping trails open. Just before Chirstmas, the council discussed another option of donating the funds to a charity to help people in need given the severity of the depressed economy and unemployment conditions in both Tucson and Phoenix. The council voted to donate the money to St. Vincent de Paul, split evenly between the Phoenix and Tucson organizations. We would hope that members would understand this decision to help others in need and know that there will be other opportuinities to help keep trails open in the future through trail clean up events, supporting Tread Lightly, supporting the BLM such as the mine evaluation event that we supported, and other organizations. Attached are letters received from St. Vincent de Paul thanking AZLRO for our donations. Every member that participated in club events through registration and the rally made a contribution to this donation. The council appreciates your support and sends a thank you for your donation.
