AZLRO

January Monthly Meeting - 2017

4 months 5 days ago - 4 months 5 days ago #9770 by admin
Approximately 20 members in attendance.

Agenda
  • Old/Ongoing Business
    • council introduction
    • new member/1st time visitor intros
    • Annual BBQ - March 3-5th.
      • Friday night will feature a member "trail gourmet" cook-off - members will cook their best trail meal to provide appetizer-sized portions for BBQ attendees, and Prizes will be awarded to the top 3.
      • Saturday night the club will provide catered BBQ
    • AZLRO Christmas Toy Drive - big success. Larger AZLRO turnout this year, event organizers were extremely impressed with the large number of toys from our group
    • REMINDER - PLEASE RSVP/REGISTER ON THE WEB SITE IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING EVENTS.
We had 9 RSVPs for this club meeting, and ~20 people show up. We also cancelled the Vulture Mine Trail Run because only one person had volunteered, yet, when we announced the cancellation, we received feedback from several disappointed people who were planning on going but had never RSVP'd.

IF YOU HAVE REGISTERED FOR AN EVENT AND THEN CANNOT MAKE IT, PLEASE UNREGISTER
This is especially important for trail runs, so the attendees do not have to sit around and wait at the meeting area for someone who isn't showing up.

  • Membership Report
    • Currently at 86 members, including 7 lifetime members
  • Trail & Events Report
    • Trail Leader Updates
      • Semi-Annual Trail Leader Appreciation Dinner tbh Jan 21st
      • Trail lottery/pick for TLs will occur at the dinner as well
    • Quaterly classes
      • Proper Rigging - Feb 4th
      • First Aid - July / tbd
    • Quarterly Monthly meetings
      • group discussion on whether they should replace a month's Thursday meeting or not, should we change Thursday meeting time, etc. Decided to put out a survey to club members and go with those results

  • New Business
    • Still looking for monthly meeting venues for most of 2017- like to rotate South, North, East, West - like venues that are family friendly where we could also do our live video stream (ie: quiet).

  • Web Site Stats

Can someone PM me what is typically involved with hosting the monthly/quarterly meeting? I'm in East Mesa and might be able to pick one up.

Hopefully you have wifi so we can attempt to livestream the meeting, and you have room for ~20 people. Sometimes the club will provide dinner (pizzas or something similar), or the host can provide dinner, you can request if people want to eat/drink, they bring their own food already prepared, or you can simply just provide the space for us to meet - it's totally up to you.

Our meetings are usually meet, greet & eat from 6:30-7:30, with the meeting agenda starting at 7:30.

I think April, May, and June are already planned, even if it's not posted on the web site.

Also, we try to rotate the meeting location North and South to hit different parts of the valley.

Ok. Got the wifi and the space (and the quite). Just wanted to be able to let the wife know what else would be part of hosting.
