Grinding on right turn at 15mph

2 months 4 weeks ago #9945 by jamestax
Hey everybody,

Just starting getting a hard metal grinding noise when I make a right turn at about 15 mph. It sounds like it is coming from the left from wheel. Am I looking at a wheel bearing issue or brakes? Every once in awhile, when she's cold, I get a bit of a shimmy at 40 mph but it goes away when it's warmed up. Any thoughts? Also, reco for a good and fair mechanic to take it to? Called Rover N Techs but they won't work on anything but NAS. Mine is an 88 D110 that was converted to LHD and has an MB turbo diesel in it.

It is your CV joint. While you have things apart you might as well replace the bearings and turn or replace the rotors.

Thanks so much for the referral to Bob. Had an engine mount bolt that had come loose. Took Bob and hour of time to jack the motor up, reset it and bolt it in. Wouldn’t take a dime from me. Just asked that I bring my truck back to him when I need work done.
