Hot Well Dunes over the New Year's holiday

3 years 10 months ago #8173 by James Howard
I could have sworn I posted this here, too, but I suppose I forgot to hit the submit button.

Hot Well Dunes is a 2000 acre sand dune site that is set aside for 4 wheeling. Camp anywhere, explore, and then soak you muscles in the 100 to 106 degree F hot tubs fed by natural hot water from a failed oil exploration project from the 1920s. There is a cliff dwelling on the map nearby that we want to try and find, and there are miles of BLM roads in the area to explore.

I put Dec 31 to Jan 1 on the calendar, but we are actually going to get there a few days early to do some pre-running. Bring firewood if you can.

Well, I am planning to bring a pile of mesquite firewood, and the hot tubs are between 100 and 108F, so you can stay warm. <!-- s:thumbup: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_1thumb_up.gif" alt="" title="thumbsup" /><!-- s:thumbup: -->

We had a great time camping at and exploring around Hot Well Dunes. Kudos to James and Kelly for organizing this event!
