Are teardrop trailers allowed on this trail?

I'm a definite maybe. Too early for me to tell if I can make the trip or not.

Depends on the setup on the trailer. High clearance and you should be okay but probably a bit rough, but it might keep you away from some of the fun areas along the trail, i.e. cutting thru the sand dune OHV area.

Don't forget the road guide: http://www.desertusa.com/web_cart/db/pages/5094.html

We found it made the trip much more enjoyable. The road was a major supply route for the goldfields near Prescott, Arizona.

As long as your trailer wheels follow in your tracks (width) you should have no problems. If it is wider tho there are a couple of spots where your trailer might end up above you riding the rim or the track.

Its a great time. Probably wont be able to go this year unfortunately.

We will meet for this adventure at 9 AM on the morning of December 29th along I-10 in West Phoenix, location TBD. From there we will caravan for the approximate 4-5 hour drive to the Fort Mohave, AZ area where we will spend the first evening. For those of you who want some comfort for the evening, please make reservations at Avi Resort and Casino, 10000 Aha Macav Parkway Laughlin, NV 89029, (702) 535-5555. For those of you with pets or just want to camp, there will be camping nearby, which will be determined. On the morning of December 30th, we will hit the trail early, which is nearby, and travel East across this historic trail.

We will camp the 2nd and 3rd nights along this nearly 150 mile trip. Daytime weather will be mild and evening temperatures will be cold, with possibilities of freezing temps. We will emerge from the trail’s end on the morning of January 1st, 2013. From there we will caravan for the 6 hour trip back to Phoenix, arriving early evening back home.

Along this route, we will be totally without any services. You will be required to carry at least 10 gallons of fuel, which you will need. Additionally, please be prepared for wilderness camping, packing all waste in and out with you. You will also need plenty of water.

The trail consists mostly of flat sandy roads, with numerous washout areas to cross, which can consist of sharp rocky terrain. It is highly advised that tires be aired down and please be prepared to air-up at the end of the trail. Adventure or off-road trailers are OK on this trip. Near the end, there is a high possibility of a moderate water crossing as well.

The general pace of this trip will be very casual, giving time to enjoy and capture this beautiful scenery in the best time of year for this area. Bring lots of camera memory.

Other gear needed will be tents, chairs, warm clothing, sturdy shoes for short hikes, sunglasses, all recovery gear that you normally carry.

Please make sure you are prepared for very cold nights. Previous trips have proven that night time temps dip into the teens. Campfires will keep us warn up until bedtime, but sleeping can get cold.

Hope to join the adventure! Visiting relatives right in CA right after Christmas, and trying to figure out if we could schedule things to meet up at the start. Been reading about the trail, and it sounds like it will be a great time.

I think there's a conspiracy going on. You guys do all the really cool stuff when we're out of country and can't join in the fun.

On the warm clothing....just an issue at night guys...and the early AM hours I guess. How about a 12 volt electric blanket for the tent?

Fellow Mojave Trailers - heading up Friday to play in the snow at either Wing Mtn or Crowley Pit, swinging by Bearizona before heading over to Laughlin. Saturday, we plan to explore the surrounding area and check out fishing opportunities. If you are interested in leaving a day early - join us! :)

I wish we could be there! Unfortunately I'm still convalescing, and from the way things are going, it now looks like we won't get down until the end of January. This old wreck of a body is just taking too long to heal.

Sad news for me...

I am sick with a cold/flu/not sure yet, but I feel terrible. Unless I improve dramatically (like, 300%), my wife isn't too keen on staying in a tent with el sicko for the long weekend, therefore, we won't be going.

I have a room at the Aquarius that I will have to forfeit - let me know if anyone is interested.

Al - if I could get even 1/2 price I'd be happy - $40? I can call the Aquarius and let them know you'd be using my registration.

Let me know...

Val and I are both sick as well. Feels like the Hulk is standing on my chest. It will probably be a judgement call in the morning if we go. We don't want to get others sick as well and being out in the cold doesn't help things at all.

Hey MonsterG,

OK I'll take the room. How do we work out the transfer of funds?

Cool mountain air is good for you. Get rid of the valley junk. Or maybe just alcohol.

You want to do paypal? Either that or you can hit me when we're out on another trail together...

I'll contact Aquarius and make sure I can put it in your name.

Post pictures already!

Anyone willing to do a trail report so I can live vicariously through your trip while I recover from my sinus infection / cold / flu?

I was thinking some kind of trip presentation that could be given at an upcoming meeting and posted online. That would be pretty cool as well.

Hope everyone had a good time and made it home safe and sound.
