Land Rover Scottsdale's Overland Adventures is sponsoring a trip into Copper Creek this Saturday. I will be the trail leader. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to go on this trip, now is your chance. This is a fun fairly easy trip (rated 3- out of 5) or there is an option (if you have a modified vehicle) for some serious rock crawling. The Cooper Creek area is filled with mining history. There used to be a railroad running into it (which is part of the trail now). We pass through mine dumps, old mine equipment, remains of the old post office, and arrive at the Sibley Mansion for lunch. This used to be a 3 story home of the mine president in the early 1900's. Just across the creek are the remains of the old general store. On the way out we pass the famous Bunker Hill mine and a land mark in the area Sombrero Butte. Along the way its great scenery from ocotillo and saguaro forests to lush sycamore valleys. We should be back in Mammoth around 4:00PM. Meeting Place: Circle K in Mammoth Time: 10:00AM
As of 11/05 the Sibley Mansion access has been gated with no trespassing signs posted.
